Scope of Work
- Put 6-inch recessed cans in two new bathrooms and a bedroom
- Put in two Panasonic WhisperFan exhaust fans
- Hung the vanity lights and moved switches in the new baths
- Landed 15-amp AFCI and 20-amp AFCI/GFCI breakers at the panel
- Ran the bathroom circuits all the way back to the panel
This remodel in Felida, WA ran in two phases across two new bathrooms and a bedroom. We did the trim-out: cans in, fans in, vanity lights hung, switches where the homeowner wanted them, and the breakers landed at the panel.
What a bathroom needs
A bathroom needs more from its circuits than any other room its size. There’s water, a hair dryer that pulls a lot of power, a fan that runs after every shower, and code rules that keep getting stricter.
On this job that meant:
- Bathroom circuits run all the way back to the panel, not tapped off whatever was closest
- A 20-amp AFCI/GFCI breaker for the bathroom outlets
- 15-amp AFCI breakers for the lights
- Fans and lights on the switches the homeowner picked, not wherever the old ones were
AFCI and GFCI do different jobs, and a bathroom is one place you often want both. Our post on where AFCI and GFCI protection is required explains the difference.
Why we used Panasonic WhisperFans
We put in two Panasonic WhisperFan units. Bathroom fans get skimped on a lot in remodels. A loud fan doesn’t get turned on, so the moisture stays in the room.
A quiet fan gets used, and that’s what protects the paint, drywall and framing. Spending a little more on the fan costs less than what moisture does to a new bathroom over ten years.
Cans in the bedroom too
The bedroom got four 6-inch cans cut into the existing textured ceiling. In the downstairs hall, we swapped a flush-mount light for a can so the lighting matches across the floor.
Same can size, same trim, same spacing from room to room. That’s what makes a remodel look like one job. We take the same care with can lights and vanity fixtures anywhere in the house.
We set switch locations on site
We moved switches in the new baths during trim, and we set them standing in the room, not off the plans.
The plans put switches where the drafter thought the door would swing. Once the door’s hung, you can see in about thirty seconds where the switch should go. Moving a pencil mark is free until the drywall’s closed up. That’s a big part of getting bathroom electrical right the first time.

What customers say about our bathroom work
Oh my gosh! I called Newman Electric about power to our bathroom outlets not working. They were in our neighborhood, North Image, and said we will be there in 15 MINUTES!! They diagnosed the problem (an outside CGFI outlet was tripped when our siding was washed) and put everything back together. We had forgotten about the outside CGFI and didn't know it was part of the bathroom wiring. They didn't charge us anything! We are so excited to share that Ryan and Anthony are the BEST! Thanks Newman Electric! You guys rock!
I called this place to ask some questions and the customer service was amazing! I felt like they had the perfect answers to my questions and was just an overall great information on what I needed!
