Office Electrician
in Vancouver, WA
Offices need more from their electrical systems than most people realize. Every workstation needs power and data. Conference rooms need outlets, displays, and AV wiring. Server closets need dedicated circuits. Break rooms need their own circuits too, because someone's microwave and toaster oven will trip a breaker if they're sharing a circuit with cubicle outlets. Newman Electric handles office electrical work for businesses across Vancouver, WA. Ryan and the crew wire new offices, expand existing ones, and fix the problems that come up when your building's electrical wasn't planned for the way you actually use it.
What We Do
Office Electrical Services
From a single outlet addition to a full office buildout, Newman Electric handles every type of office electrical work.
Workstation Power
Every desk needs outlets. Open floor plans need floor boxes or power poles. Cubicle farms need circuits routed through furniture systems. Newman Electric plans the circuits based on your actual layout so your team doesn't end up running extension cords across the floor.
Conference Rooms
Displays, projectors, video conferencing gear, and charging outlets in the table. Newman Electric pre-wires conference rooms with power, data drops, and AV connections so you don't have cables taped to the floor and adapters dangling from the ceiling.
Server & IT Closets
Server racks need dedicated 20A circuits, and your IT closet probably needs more of them than you think. Newman Electric installs dedicated circuits for server equipment, UPS systems, and network switches. We also make sure the cooling system in the closet has its own circuit so it doesn't share load with your servers.
Lighting & Controls
Bad office lighting makes people tired. Good lighting makes the space feel professional and keeps your team alert. Newman Electric installs LED troffers, recessed downlights, task lighting, and dimming controls. We also wire occupancy sensors for energy code compliance so you're not paying to light empty rooms.
Break Room Circuits
Microwaves, coffee makers, toasters, and mini-fridges add up fast. Most break rooms in older offices are on a shared circuit that trips when two people heat lunch at the same time. Newman Electric adds dedicated circuits for break room appliances so your team stops having to reset the breaker after lunch.
Security & Access Control
Card readers, electric door strikes, security cameras, and alarm panels all need low-voltage wiring and power. Newman Electric runs the wiring for your security system and installs the power connections so your access control installer can plug in and go.
Our Process
How Newman Electric Handles Office Projects
Whether you're building out a new space or fixing problems in your current office, Ryan keeps the process simple and stays in communication the entire time.
Walk the Space
Ryan comes to your office, walks the space with you, and listens to what you need. Where are the desks going? What equipment do you have? What's driving you crazy about the current setup? We look at the existing panel, check available capacity, and figure out what's possible without tearing everything apart.
Bid & Plan
You get a written estimate with the scope of work, the circuit count, and the total cost. No surprises. If you're working with a GC or an architect, Ryan coordinates with them on scheduling and plan review. If it's a smaller project, we skip the formality and just schedule the work.
Install
Newman Electric works around your business hours when possible. For occupied offices, we schedule noisy work (drilling, sawing) early or after hours. The crew cleans up at the end of each day. You won't come in Monday morning to find drywall dust on your keyboards.
Test & Close Out
We test every circuit, verify all outlets are hot, and make sure your lighting controls work the way they should. If a permit was pulled, we schedule and pass the final inspection. Ryan does a final walkthrough with you to confirm everything's right before the job is closed out.
Code & Standards
Office Electrical Codes in Washington State
Office electrical work in Vancouver, WA has to meet the current NEC and Washington State codes. Newman Electric knows these requirements and builds to them on every project.
NEC 210.71: Meeting Room Receptacles
The 2023 NEC requires receptacle outlets in meeting rooms and conference rooms, with specific spacing requirements. Newman Electric installs outlets to code in every conference room we wire, including floor boxes for conference tables.
WSEC: Lighting Controls
The Washington State Energy Code requires occupancy sensors in offices, restrooms, and storage rooms. Daylight harvesting controls are required near windows. Newman Electric installs occupancy sensors and daylight sensors that meet the energy code so your building passes inspection.
NEC 210.12: AFCI Protection
When circuits are added or modified in commercial spaces, AFCI protection is required on 15A and 20A branch circuits in certain areas. Newman Electric installs AFCI breakers where code requires them.
WAC 296-46B: Washington Permits
Office electrical work that adds circuits, installs new panels, or modifies existing wiring requires a permit. In the City of Vancouver, permits go through the city (360-487-7890). In unincorporated Clark County, through L&I (360-896-2300). Newman Electric handles all permits.

Common Questions
Office Electrical FAQ
In most offices, yes. If your building has a drop ceiling, Newman Electric can run new circuits above the ceiling tiles and drop down to new outlets without opening up walls. For slab floors or finished ceilings, we do need to make some openings, but we patch and paint when we're done. Ryan will tell you what's involved during the site visit so there are no surprises.
Plan for at least two duplex outlets per workstation. That gives you four plug slots, which covers a monitor, a laptop charger, a phone charger, and a desk lamp. If your team uses dual monitors or additional equipment, you'll want more. Newman Electric plans circuits based on your actual desk count so you have enough outlets from day one.
If you're adding new circuits or modifying existing wiring, yes. The City of Vancouver handles permits for buildings within city limits. For offices in unincorporated Clark County, permits go through L&I. Newman Electric pulls the permit and handles the inspection scheduling for every office project that requires one.
Newman Electric handles both. We run Cat6 and Cat6a data drops alongside your power circuits so everything goes in at the same time. That means one crew, one set of ceiling tile removals, and one cleanup instead of two separate contractors working at different times. If you need fiber runs between floors or to a server room, we do that too.
As early as possible. If you call us before the space plan is finalized, Ryan can review the layout and make sure the electrical is planned around where your desks, conference rooms, and server closet will actually go. Retrofitting electrical after the walls are up and the furniture is in place is more expensive and more disruptive than getting it right the first time.
Yes. Newman Electric schedules around your business when it matters. For occupied offices where the work would be disruptive during business hours, we can schedule evenings or weekends. Ryan works this out with you during the planning phase so your team isn't sitting in a construction zone during a client call.
